Edit Category
Use Edit Category to maintain the current Category definition: names, descriptions, taxonomy links, identity rules, measurement defaults, default packaging, and the Category Logistics Profile.
Logistics profile on Category Edit
The Details tab shows a compact logistics summary first. It lists the selected shape, the active mapping source, and the primary logistics roles for that shape.
Open Edit logistics profile when you need to change the shape, source, mapped attribute, formula, policy, target unit, or handling flags.
The provenance badges explain where each saved rule comes from:
- This category: saved directly on the current Category.
- Inherited from Category name: inherited from the nearest parent Category.
- Universal: Category name: inherited from an approved Universal Category profile.
The Formula selector is available only when the row Source is Formula. For Product Attribute mappings such as pipe length or diameter, formula is disabled because the Product attribute is the source.
Category authoring data source
Category edit forms use the live Category Attribute profile: current direct attributes, parent inheritance, and approved Universal Category links.
Effective templates are product-runtime snapshots. They are not the source of truth for Category authoring screens because they can be stale until activated.
